Urdu Academy’s tribute to emerging new stars of Urdu poetry

By Abdus Sattar Ghazali: The Urdu Academy of North America’s October 17, 2021 literary event was dedicated to the work of emerging new (contemporary) poets of Urdu.
The program was conducted by poet Arshad Rashid who presented a well researched maqala on the life and work of new Urdu poets. Arshad Rashid chose 10 new poets to include in this literary event.
These poets are: Afkar Alvi (born in 1992) , Tehzeeb Hani (b1988) , Umair Najmi (b1986), Ammar Iqbal (b1986), Ali Zaryoon (b1983), Imran Aami (b1980), Rehman Faris (b1976), Afzal Khan (b1975) , Shahid Zaki (b1974) and Atbaf Akbar.
Hatim Rani recited Afkar Alvi’s popular poem Murshid. Sohab Hamdani and Anjum Zishan also recited poetry of Umair Najmi.
Maissom Abbas and Mehmoodul Hasan presented poetry of Umair Najmi.
Maissom Abbas and Bano Vijaypura recited Ammar Iqbal’s poetry.
Abdus Sattar Ghazali presented poetry of Ali Zaryoon.
Qazi Habib and Maissom recited poetry of Imran Aami.
Anjum Zishan and Yasmin Afzal recided poetry of Rehman Faris.
Tassaduq Hussain Attari and Qazi Habib presented poetry of Afzal Khan.
Mukesh Kackar and Sohab Hamdani presented poetry of Shahid Zaki.
At the end Zeba Rizvi presented two ghazals of Atbaf Akbar.
