Urdu Academy of North America holds
Mazahiya poetry & Musical Event
The Urdu Academy of North America held its monthly literary event on July 16, 2017 at the Chandni Restaurant, Newark CA.
The first session of the event was named Gul Hai Ranga Rang at which Urdu enthusiasts presented poetry of their choice.
Prominent Bay Area Urdu Poet Arshad Rashid was MC of the literary event.
A salient feature of the program was presentation of funny or Mazhiya poetry. Abdus Sattar Ghazali, Manzar Salam and Habibullah Khan Yousefzai entertained the audience with amazing choice of Mazhiya poetry.
Others who presented Urdu poetry included: Mahmoodul Hasan, Zafar Khan Yousefzai, Irfan Siddiqui, Hatim Rani, Asim Bajwa, Mobin Khalil, Mukesh Kackar, Mehboob Ala, Shehzad Basir, Zeeshan Abbasi, Zeba Rizvi, Syed Zafar Alam, Dr. Tahir Mahmood, Lubna Manzar and Tashie Zaheer.
Musical Show
The second session was devoted to musical presentations because it was the first Urdu Academy program after Eid Al Fitr.
Almas Shabvani and Danesh Sharma thrilled the audience with their presentations of classical movies' songs.
Rajinder Singh was on tabla while Danesh Sharma was on harmonium.
Sweety Singh also entertained the audience with her presentation of two ghazals.
At the end of the program Abdus Sattar Ghazali thanked entrepreneur Syed Sarwat for promoting the Urdu language in the Bay Area and patronizing the Urdu Academy literary events.
