Aligarh Muslim University Alumni Association of Northern America celebrated Sir Syed Day 2019 on November 17, 2019 at the India Community Center, Milpitas CA. The program included fund raising for its charity programs in India and also an International Mushaera with participating poets from India, Pakistan and the US. The poets included: Pirzada Qasim (Pakistan), Javed Akhtar (India), A. M. Turaz (India), Sarfraz Shahid (Pakistan), Manzar Bhopali (India), Ahmar Shehwaar (Bay Area) and Dr. Aifra Ahmed (Bay Area). Amtul Suhail was MC of the event which began with the recitation of the Holy Quran by M. Zaid Khan who also translated the verses in English. The program included fund raising for the Aligarh Education Endowment Fund projects.
